The Micro Myth Series began in Mauritius. Drawing and travel are intertwined, the ability to absorb environment, culture, color, nature is inherent to my practice. My curiosity and desire for intimacy, understanding and knowing people resides alongside my studio practice. The Micro Myth series squishes these two things together, both literally and metaphorically. In a small and decaying security booth in Flic en Flac, Mauritius one block from the sea I embarked an enquiry that what now can be defined, in part, as a series of performative interactions through the use of drawing and painting. Inhabiting the security booth space for 6 hours, I sat making drawings and surrounded by objects in the booth, like a frog waiting for flies, a sign written in French, Creole and English invited passers -by to enter the booth to write a letter of love on the back of a small drawing made on the Island.
